Coding with Droneblocks 1.25 hours

In this series, you will learn to fly your Tello Drone using Droneblocks. Block coding is the perfect way to get excited about coding. Watching your code literally fly by in front of you is a wonderful experience.

Chapter 1 : Droneblocks Installation Guide

Welcome to the first video in this series. In this video we are going to learn how to install Droneblocks on our various devices.

7min.

Chapter 2 : Getting Started with Tello Drone

As mentioned earlier, our Tello's do not have GPS so when we say "20 cm" it's kind of a guess. Let's get our bearings before we start creating our first programs.

12min.

Chapter 3 : Beginners Coding

In this video we cover basic programming in Droneblocks. We will get our Tello drone to fly back and forth, as well as fly in a couple shapes.

14min.

Chapter 4 : Coding with Loops and Variables

In this video we cover the programming concepts of loops and variables in Droneblocks. We will get our Tello drone to fly in a shape with a slightly smarter bit of code than in our last video

10min.

Chapter 5 : Better Named Variables

In this video we add on to the previous programming concepts of loops and variables in Droneblocks. We will change the names of the previous variables to something more fitting. 🙂 We will then test the drone using the drone simulator and seeing if our math adds up.

11min.

Chapter 6 : Dropdown Timer Drone

In this video we are going to turn our Tello Drones into dropdown timers. The drones will fly to a chosen height and then over the duration of the "timer" they will slowly start to get lower and lower to the grab... they dropdown haha. This program uses variables and some clever math.

7min.

Chapter 7 : If Else Statements

In this video we are going to learn about the If Else statement. We use Zigzags as a great example for if this, then that testing. We also touch on iteration (loops) using a counter for the first time.

12min.

Chapter 8 : Fun with Functions

In this video we are going to learn about Functions and comments. We build a function that flies in a square. We also build a function that flies in a triangle. The last function we make lets us pick the value for the long_side and short_side thus creating a rectangle path (unless you pick the same number for the long and short side lol)
